In this story, Starr recalls the vibrant business district along Broadway in Baden. She recalls a bicycle store, a shoe store and other shops which she remembers fondly from her childhood. She says the buildings are attractive and appear to be in good condition physically. She hopes future investment will occur along the stretch to help local residents buy locally.

Shuron D. Jones is an long-time resident of Tower Grove South; she has lived on South Grand Blvd. for over four (4) years. Working class her whole life, she has also been a service worker at restaurants on South Grand Blvd. Shuron is an active community member, and sits on the board of the Tower Grove South Neighborhood Association, 15th Ward Democrats, and the Workers Education Society.
In this video, Shuron describes a new store on South Grand Blvd. To her, this retailer (no shade) represents the influx of young, white, middle class folks to the Tower Grove South community.

She enjoys the natural appeal of the tall trees as well as the activities offered by the gazebo and playground. She says it is the one place in the neighborhood she wouldn't change in the world. Barriers that block streets and restrict access should be removed. They reflect a bunker-like mentality that seeks to cut off the neighborhood from the surrounding City. Robert moved to Shaw in 2014 with his family to be near the City Garden School that his son attends.

In this video, Ms. Knights describes how she acquired her home and the lots surrounding it, and how her street is a beautiful place. She also describes how the neighborhood has channed, and how the creation of the a greenway along the Hodiamont Tracks could promote more community-based participation in the neighborhood. She recalls when there were many boarding houses in the area, including her current home which was a boarding house for men in the 1940s and 1950s.
Kathryn Knights has been a resident of the Vandeventer neighborhood since the 1980's, and is a active participant in the West Belle Neighborhood Association.

The Beauvais Manor is a historic place in the Shaw neighborhood because of its architecture, which reminds him of an antebellum mansion. He explains that it also represents how long the community has survived. Sean moved to the area in 1991, and likes the community and its environment, as well as its proximity to areas such as the South Grand district and the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Mr. Goss talks about the first black bed and breakfast in St. Louis and the contributions that the owners make to the neighborhood by hosting concerts and parties. Robert discusses the bee garden in the Shaw neighborhood as a beautiful and environmentally beneficial place. The garden is planted with several varieties of plants and flowers that attract bees and other wildlife. This gives them a safe place while also providing a green space for the community.

In this video, Mrs. Knights describes Bell Garden as a beautiful place, and recounts her involvement with the planting and maintenance of the garden. The garden used to be a vacant lot. When neighbors started it, previous home foundations left on site made digging difficult. Neighbors decided to build raised beds for planting. Neighbors opposed SLACO's proposition to build new homes on the plot because they wanted to retain it as a green space. The SLACO homes were subsequently built elsewhere, on Fairfax.

Belt Loop is important to local heritage because it is a longstanding, African-American-owned, family business that has made contributions to the neighborhood by sponsoring civic events. D'vion Harris chose Wells Goodfellow as the neighborhood in which to buy his first house. Although the house was purchased in 2016, he has spent a great deal of time in the neighborhood since 2001.
