Robin has lived in St. Louis since 1999, but has only been in Shaw for part of 2015. She chose to come here because she has friends in the neighborhood and because of its convenient location. Petra/Treehouse

Shuron D. Jones is an long-time resident of Tower Grove South; she has lived on South Grand Blvd. for over four (4) years. Working class her whole life, she has also been a service worker at restaurants on South Grand Blvd. Shuron is an active community member, and sits on the board of the Tower Grove South Neighborhood Association, 15th Ward Democrats, and the Workers Education Society.

In this video, Shuron describes a building on South Grand at Connecticut Ave. that has changed owners over the past four (4) years, from a Reggae-inspired venue to a Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant. This change of hands is complicated: Petra was a safe place for young, white "outsiders," and young folks for marginalized communities. Treehouse has its own community - is a restaurant that attracts a diverse crowd of folks joined together by their values around food that is not cheap.
